 Bowman Street Bridge Reconstruction
Location: Mansfield, Ohio
Services: KEM provided construction contract administration and inspection services for the Bowman Street Bridge Reconstruction in the City of Mansfield. This $1,200,000 Local Let Project included replacement of the superstructure a 5-span bridge over two railroads. The continuous composite steel beams were re-used and field painted as part of the work scope.
For this project KEM conducted monthly progress meetings, coordinated railroad flagger activity, approved material submittals, and informed the City of project progress. KEM also provided daily construction inspection services to ensure compliance with plans and contract requirements. KEM inspectors have extensive experience with ODOT specifications and contract requirements. Written logs of project activity, and verification of completed quantities were performed on a daily basis. Pay requests were reviewed and approved in the field prior to submittal for payment. The project included a DBE goal of 8% for construction work, which KEM monitored for compliance. In addition construction personnel observed the concrete placement and provided quality assurance testing to verify compliance with specifications.
